We came across this inn by chance as we were staying down the road at the Bridge Hotel (avoid at all costs!!) they informed us they weren't cooking that Saturday and advised us to try the Farmers Arms. Although they were fully booked, they squeezed us in, and it was well worth it!! The food was excellent. We discovered they did accommodation too, and have stayed here 3 times since. The rooms are very homely, and spacious, with free wifi available. The family room is excellent. We have eaten in the pub and restaurant each time and never been disappointed with the quality of the food - you must try the beef Wellington! It is to die for!!!! And the fact that it is always full is indication of how good this place is!
From booking in on Christmas eve until we booked out late afternoon Christmas day everything was fantastic. Evening meal on arriving was lovely, rooms were very good too, had a good nights sleep, a simple but good breakfast, good job as Christmas dinner was fantastic, presentation was excellent, food was brilliant (only complaint too much) a really lovely time a very good Christmas was had by all.
This will sound like I own the place (wish I did), I live in the Garrison and I took my daughter and wife here, we had Beef Wellington and well, it was absolutely perfect.I have eaten Beef Wellington and made my own plenty of times and this was spot on! The Chef was only in his twenties I think, he did a great job.
None of the food I have had in this pub is boiled up or microwaved. All fresh, so much so, we ordered the Beef Wellington during the day.
The staff are really friendly, plus the pub has a great atmosphere, please move it to walking distance from my home!
